Start with the map, not the myth.

A short educational taste from Foundations. It isn’t a full chapter, and it isn’t medical advice.

The endocannabinoid system (plain English)

Your body has a signaling network often called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). It helps cells send and receive messages using compounds your body makes on its own, plus receptors that can also interact with plant cannabinoids.

Two receptor families show up most in educational materials:

  • CB1: discussed most often in connection with the nervous system
  • CB2: discussed most often in connection with immune and peripheral tissues

This is a map for learning, not a treatment plan. The full Foundations book goes deeper on cannabinoids, routes, interactions, and how to talk with your care team.
